ZAGAT SURVEY (2008)
Food: 23 - Decor: 15 - Service: 18 - Cost: $24
"Crispy", "gossamer-thin" crusts accessorized with a "tremendous assortment of toppings" make for "heaven on a plate" at this "hip" Gramercy pizza purveyor; sure, the quarters are "tight" and the sidewalk seats overlook "blah Second Avenue", but at least the pricing is "kind."
ZAGAT SURVEY (2007)
Food: 23 - Decor: 12 - Service: 16 - Cost: $21
Pizza with "personality" is the trademark of this "neat little" Gramercy "asset", where the "cracker-thin" crust and "fresh", creative toppings are a "wonderful" "switch from the norm"; now that it's a hit, "too-crowded" conditions suggest "they need to expand."
ZAGAT SURVEY (2006)
Food: 23 - Decor: 15 - Service: 18 - Cost: $19
"Fantastic" "paper-thin" pizzas using the "finest ingredients" make this Gramercy greenhorn a "boon to the neighborhood"; the "friendly" service "cozy", "tavern"-esque quarters and "inexpensive" tabs explain why the main problem is "getting in."

NEW YORK MAGAZINE, April 2004
Jonathan Tweedy and Antonio Gomez run Avenue B’s family-friendly, cozily cramped Pizza Gruppo, and like all proud pizzeria owners, they wanted their pie to reach a wider audience. Posto, their Gramercy satellite equipped with an identical menu of thin-crust pies and sprightly salads, needs some time to settle into its predecessor’s comfortably seasoned ambience, but with its blue slate tabletops and bar, low tin ceiling, and dim lighting, it’s off to an auspicious start.
TIME OUT NEW YORK, July 8-15, 2004
The owners of Avenue B’s Pizza Gruppo decided to export their wafer-thin crust to folks who could use a radical shake-up in their food supply: Gramercy locals. Wooden booths, blue slate tables, vintage diner stools and a wine-stocked bar add a chic, romantic air to this mini corner hangout. The stone oven produces pies in two sizes, large or personal, with loads of topping choices. The kitchen also makes a number of salads and a daily ravioli, but it’s best to skip straight to the specialty. A pizza that includes ricotta cheese and caramelized onions on its cracker-crisp base gets high marks, especially when accompanied by the house Montepulciano.
TIME OUT NEW YORK, July 15-22, 2004
Being thin-skinned is a plus in the pizza business. The pies at this new pizzeria (opened by the owners of Pizza Gruppo on AvenueB) comes with extra-crisp, almost cracker-like crusts. A mere $9 will buy one of the kitchen smart combos—like spinach, ricotta, mozzarella and basil—or you can build your own, pilling artichoke hearts, fresh tomatoes, and Parmesan on top of an olive-oil-brushed crust. Spend your $7 salad money on a tumbler of Shiraz.
DAILY NEWS SUNDAY, October 10, 2004
This wine-bar pizzeria—which shares its menu and ownership with Alphabet City’s Pizza Gruppo—is only a few months old but already has a local following drawn by the cozy ambience, creative offerings and ultrafriendly staff.
VILLAGE VOICE
New York once again proves itself to be the cradle of pizza innovation. Posto specializes in a newfangled sort of pie, with a thin crackling crust something like Otto's, and toppings that range from doctrinaire to world-roaming. The plain slice is estimable, better still are the individual 9-inch pies, including several set configurations that, at $9.00 each, are not a bad deal. My favorite is the "Italian tuna melt," which features imported tuna, homemade mozzarella, and purple onions.
AOL CITY GUIDE NEW YORK
"This is just what the neighborhood needed," confides a satisfied client on his way out of the narrow long room that is Posto, the little sister of Pizza Gruppo in the East Village. The whitewashed walls, tin ceiling and long bar give the impression that it's been here forever; on the contrary, the space was only recently renovated. What's on tap, besides the chill atmosphere, is primarily "cracker-thin" pizza in 9- or 16-inch sizes. You get a choice of novelty sauces (marinara or pesto plus cheese, or plain olive oil) and over 20 different toppings (be adventurous and opt for feta, Italian tuna, andouille or chicken-jalapeno sausage). There are also some salads and ravioli specials, but they're almost beside the point. Co-owner Jon Tweedy watches a customer opening a newspaper and smiles: "That's what I like to see." Just like that customer, Posto seems to be settling in for a long stay. -- Rhonda Markowitz

Don't have time for the 3 hour tour that is Di Fara?  Think that Lombardi's and Grimaldi's are good but overrated?  Hate waiting in a line with tourists? Say hello to Posto.  It's centrally located, rarely has  a long wait time, and the ambiance is unsurpassed for pizzerias.  The pizza itself might be the best kept secret in New York City, possibly the best...and yes I realize the gravity of my statement.  My personal favorite is the Big Pineapple, with the footnote that I don't even like hawaiian pizza.  If you're really hungry, get the spinach salad as an appetizer, and again, I don't even like spinach so I am really confused how they make things that I don't like taste so good. I'm going to be really upset if people read this and I have to start waiting a long time to eat there.

I love Posto's pizza. Its as thin as you can get and the toppings are really high quality. I always order the pizza extra crispy. The lunch specials are the best because you can get 2 slices of cheese and a soda for 5 bucks. The service is a little slow considering that they only have one person working at a time, but its well worth it considering their pizza is so good. I would also recommend the endive salad. It is super light and refreshing. The sandwiches are good too, but huge and slightly under-seasoned. Go for pizza and salad and you'll be happy.

I love the thin crust pizza here.  It’s a great place to eat during the summer when they have the benches outside, especially with the kids.  Try the meat lovers so good, and the house salad is really good too.  They also have great deals for lunch.

Great thin crust pizza and nice patio area.  I got a pepperoni pizza with arugula and was very happy with the spicy-ness and how the pizza was still crispy when I got to the last slice.  Good shiraz too in cute little juice glasses.

I LOVE the thin crust pizza here!  It's so yummy =)  The crust is super thin...the house pies are pretty darn good.  So far I have had the meat lovers (pepperoni, ground sausage, & more!) and the spicy vegetable (zucchini, broccoli, mushrooms, etc.)...and the salads!!  I love the green (don't know what it is, but it tastes good) dressing! I definitely recommend this place to thin crust pizza lovers!

I like coming here because you can get a delicious, thin crust margherita pizza and a beer, in a suprisingly preppy, dark, booth, a few steps below ground. Also, their balsamic salad dressing is the best salad dressing I've ever had....its thick but not creamy and not oily: I've lived in Italy and Spain and never have I had such good balsamic dressing---Unbelievable! Wowza! Also, if you order a lemonade, they bring you half a glass of lemon juice on ice and then a fancy bottle of simple syrup with which you may add to taste. It's a little more than your regular pizza place, I'd label it casual preppy dining. They deliver as well!

I was surprised by just how thin this crust turned out to be!  Crust like this makes it easy to eat several slices but still respect yourself in the morning.  Some girlfriends and I had pizza and wine night (my favorite night) and we selected this place for food.  It helped my friend lives on 18th and 2nd so it was a sure bet. We ordered the garlic bread and large pizza with sausage.  The garlic bread was pretty amazing. 4 large slices covered in cheese and garlic with sauce on the side for dipping.  The pizza was also pretty good but I wouldn't say it was the best I have ever had.  It was tasty and I ate it but let me just say, I could easily knock out an entire large pizza by myself given how thin the crust is.

I used to live 3 buildings away from this place and would frequent it at least once a week and have never really been disappointed.  Even now, I still have cravings for their pizza. The seating area inside is small and intimate, the outdoor picnic table seating in the spring / summer is nice in theory, but seriously, do you really want to hang out on the corner of 18th and 2nd?  There's not much foot traffic for people watching and there is nothing to look at besides traffic along 2nd Ave.  But if you just like being outside, it's a nice option. I've always gotten the antipasta starter and their garlic bread (with cheese), but their bruschetta has always been good as well.  The antipasta starter: great olives, decent salami, decent cheese.  It's a nice refreshing starter.  The garlic bread with cheese - the name says it all. I'm a fat girl stuck in a skinny girl body, I love this appetizer.  It's heavy, but it's damn good. Pizzas are thin-crust and all of them have been really very good.  I love the margherita pizza, but any of their other toppings have always been great! Beers are great.  They have Hoegaarden.  That's always a plus in my book.

Great pizza and cozy ambiance. Posto is small and romantic, with low ceilings and low lighting. The pizza is really great as is the spinach salad. Haven't tried the pasta, but the ravioli that went by looked delish. I also like any place that serves Hoegaarden.

My best friend loves pizza.  It easily tops her list of food she'd bring to a desert island, last meal on earth or something to be eaten everyday.  for me - if it was Posto's pizza, i could be on board. perfect sauce to cheese to topping ratio... the Big Pineapple (it has bacon!) or the Shroomtown are my go-tos, with greek salad on the side.

Fantastic thin-crust pizza in a cozy, low-key atmosphere. Our faves are the Big Pineapple (with ham) and the Classica (a margherita with fresh mozz, basil and tomatoes). The crust is so unbelievably thin, crunchy and tasty. We almost always get a house salad to start; the dressing is so delicious that I've been inspired to try and recreate it at home (I think it's a classic balsamic with a touch of garlic and a tiny bit of sugar for a hint of sweetness). The place is usually crowded but we've only had an unreasonable wait for a table once, and the bar is a friendly place to sit and wait. And definitely try the tiramisu if you want to indulge. I actually dislike tiramisu in general -- the cocoa powder always blows into my throat and makes me cough -- but here it is SUBLIME and the cocoa is perfectly moist. Love, love, love Posto. So lucky to live nearby!

Really really good thin crust pizza! I've only had the Hawaiian and the plain, but I LOVE both. The restaurant itself is pretty small and can get very busy depending on when you come, however its worth it. On warm days they have an outdoor seating area if you enjoy dining al fresco like me. A slice of this along with a beer and I swear my taste buds thank me for days.

Posto is a neighborhood favorite of mine.  While the menu is not extensive, they focus on what they know best - pizzas and salads.   I have been to Posto more times than I can count on two hands.  Both family and friends from NYC and elsewhere agree that the pizzas are great and are reasonably priced.  When its warm, Posto has roughly 6-8 outdoor tables that seat up to 4.  These tables are a great place to people watch and enjoy the weather.

Even though it's all the way across town from us, this has displaced Patsy's as our regular pizza spot.  We're willing to wait for the M23 in return for getting some Posto pizza.   Not only is the pizza amazing, it's a good spot to hang out.  First time we went we just sat at the bar, got some beers, glasses of wine, and a pie; 2nd time we got one of the booths.  So even though it's a tight space, we haven't had to wait long to sit and order up some food and drinks.  Seems like it's a bit off the beaten path, so maybe it doesn't get as mobbed as some other spots. From the other reviews, it sounds like they also have the outdoor seating going in the warmer months.  We only discovered Posto in November, so we'll be heading back in the spring and summer to experience that.

Proof that Yelp works! After my team's soccer game, we went to the bar to drown the misery of our loss away in delicious beer.  When what's that?  Everybody's hungry because nobody ate before the game?  Whatever shall we do?!  Yelp iPhone app to the rescue. I typed in pizza and current location.  Posto came up.  I ordered two pies.  They were delivered hot and crispy and delicious.  Crisis averted.

Great Find! Glad to have another good restaurant in Gramercy! The pizza here is consistently excellent (if you like thin crust pizza). The prices could be cheaper, but reasonable given the area. My only complaints would be delivery (the pizza is definitely better at the restaurant) and the service. The host (not sure what his name is) is as pissy as can be. If you can look past that, though, it's a fantastic little restaurant!

solid Came here for dinner on a week day, not that crowded. Easygoing decor and ambience, food is great, really tasty thin crust pizza. Try the Meatlovers which was by far the best I tried. They serve beer on draft and in bottles as well. Prices are decent, could be cheaper but not ridiculous. Overall, if you are into thin crust pizza, give it a try.

Positively Posto We think the staff is just the coolest. Carol and Ron and Darla are funny, savvy, and delightful no better place to be than at the bar when they are working. The pizzas are oh, so good, and the house salad is always fresh and has this amazing dressing, almost as good as the beer. It is the coziest little place, perfect both winter and summer. And the prices are terrific, too. We are so glad this place and these people are in our neighborhood.

Great! I am confused with some of the reviews. The pizza is amazing. Yes, you have to like thin crust pizza. If you don't, go elsewhere. I wasn't a fan of super thin crust like that have here but I am now. The ingredients are so fresh and the pizza is so so good. I actually ordered pizza for three days in a row from Posto when I discovered the place 1 month ago. I then took my brother there for lunch. not only do they have good lunch specials but they have other items other than pizza that are also very good. The salads are excellent and I had the melon/proscuitto and it was so very good. I don't understand what one reviewer said about not being great places to eat in Gramercy. That simply is NOT true. Posto happens to be fantastic and now a staple. Also, kids like, no actually love, pizza so if you don't like kids, don't go to a place where their speciality is pizza. Not much else to say about that other than I have been there a couple of times in the last month and do not remember seeing any kids there. It is more of an upscale bar/restaurant then a typical NY pizza palor. Do not hesitate going. Oh, they have a great wine and homemade soup [select]ion. The bartenders are quite nice too!

LOVE everything about this cozy neighborhood favorite.  Posto offers amazing house combinations, as well as an extensive range of toppings to create your own.  The pizza is thin crust with very high quality ingredients.  Worth the price.  Reasonably priced wine, great salads (ask for an extra side of dressing to dip your crust in) and some great appetizers (try the Rotella). Atmosphere is dark and cozy, jukebox is great - a lot of Van Morrison and Billy Joel.  Outdoor seating is a plus.

I split a 16" pizza with a friend last night...... and by split I mean I ate half the damned thing. It was perfectly delicious and thin enough to fool me into thinking I could eat half and not regret it later. The toppings (we had pesto and cheese base with sundried tomatoes, goat cheese, and carmelized onions) were awesome but cost a bit more than they should. Seriously guys, $5 for goat cheese? Did you make it yourself? If not, don't charge so much.

Mmmmmmmm, this pizza is delicious. The pizzas are all thin crust  which I love. You can either order a 9 inch or a 16 inch, so we ordered two 9 inch pies and shared. We tried the Spicy Garden, a perfect combination of cheese and veggies, including jalapenos which give it a spicy kick, and we also had the Formaggio Bianco, which has ricotta, mozzarella, spinach and basil- yum! It's a really small spot with booth seats and stand alone tables, and the atmosphere is dark, but I would definitely recommend to anyone.

This pizza joint is no ordinary pizza joint...it's a real deal restauranty with a beer/wine bar. This is a great low-key date place for rookie couples as well as the veterans. the food is tasty. staff and customers are lively. there's booze. it's soflty lit. and the prices are easy on the wallet. The gf and i stopped in here randomly because we were off to catch Tropic Thunder at Kip's Bay...our luck is good because we had a fantastic pizza-filled evening and weren't late to the flick. Recommendation: the arugula-n-bocconcini salad & meatball classic large were plenty for two people with a decent apppetite.  there are plenty of pizza choices as well as customizing your own. there's also a variety of salads and pastas on the menu. warining on the pizza if you are a Chicago style pizza eater or want super chewy crusts...this is not going to be your clice of heaven. the pizza here is strictly light thin crust fare. The staff are quick to serve, refresh drinks, and chitchat without being annoying. overall if you are looking a casual date place or a low-key evening of pizza and a flick, this is could be your place. there were some larger tables in the back...so it seems that the restaurant can accomodate groups of 6-10.

My friend lives near this pizzeria and suggested we give it a try. We had recently eaten at the Thai restaurant across the street and noticed Posto was always full. After a pretty hefty wait (45 minutes on a rainy dreary day) with no waiting area, we were finally seated. I'm not sure which is worse- having to stand for an entire 45 minutes in a cramped, dark pizzeria, or having to watch people eat fresh, bubbling hot pies while hungry. Probably the latter. Regardless, the pizza was DELICIOUS. I hate crust so this place really made high marks for me.  The crust was thin and perfectly baked. My friend and I shared a large (I know, we're fatties but getting a small made no sense economically) Italian sausage with various mushrooms. The cheese was delicious and the crust crispy even under all that fresh tomato sauce and hefty toppings. I honestly couldn't have asked for a better pizza. Simple, fresh, wholesome ingredients and quick (although not great) service. Definitely worth it for any pizza lover.

Super tasty thin crust (almost cracker-like) pizzas made to order to your specs or one of their suggested combinations. The "shroomtown" pizza, which has 3 or 4 types of mushrooms and truffle oil, is particularly excellent. Great variety of salads, too, to counteract some of your pizza guilt. Service can be a tad slow, and this place is no bargain, but it doesn't disappoint.

Being fanatically from the great city on the Lake, Chicago, it is often difficult for me to take thin crust pizza seriously.  Or it was. Between Tony's Pizza on Graham in Brooklyn, my favorite neighborhood pizza and Posto at 19th and 2nd, I learned that New York too can boast of pizza that is either easily had and delicious or, with some flair, elevated toward artful cuisine with relative simplicity. There are those who talk of Grimaldi's or Patsy's but their cases as brilliant or life altering are easily dismissed when faced with Gino's East, the Caffe Florian or the Candlelight in Chicago.  Posto on the other hand, was a really exciting development in my life as a denizen of New York City.  It helped change how I thought about pizza.  I became more open and welcoming.  Not since Talanya's in St. Louis (when they were in the old church) had I found a pizza that challenged my basic assumptions as they had been formed in Chicago. It began with the salad.  Simple, tricolor and beautiful - the dressing complemented the very fresh greens and simple adornments and made it a much better house salad than one could expect to find.  Compared to the dispiriting piles of cold wet lettuce begrudgingly given a cucumber top, this was like a whole other idea of defining the self.  Posto declared itself with some panache, even in its lettuce.  The house dressing is excellent, I feel, and I often attack it with almost indecent zeal, cramming bits of delicious lettuce into the crevices of the dressing's container to get one last taste.  It's not subtle, but then again, it doesn't overpower the flavor of the greens and their accompaniments.  In its balance of strong flavor yet polite second, the dressing completes the salad as few can. The pizza is superb.  The sauce is confident and slightly sweet, it's not hidden under the cheese to wait patiently like some despairing servant.  No, it treats itself as an equal, which I like.  The cheese is excellent and the green peppers and sausages I have sampled are excellent and are done with delicate twists to what one usually expects from their pizza.  Especially in the conforming world of the pizzeria.  The sausage, first of all, has much more flavor, not tasting simply like black pepper wrapped around some rubbery meat, containing instead more complex flavorings that hint the garden is considered a friend to all things Posto.  Finally the peppers are delicious, fully flavored.  Like the sauce the peppers do not bury their flavor but announce it in an attempt at harmony which they most often achieve nicely.  I often add pineapples and for the sauce and the crust, I feel it is a perfect addition, balancing all flavors of the pizza and tilting them slightly toward what is sweet.  One can balance her own pizza to her own taste, but this is my decision and it serves well, I find. The pesto pizza is also excellent.  Adding basil to anything there is an excellent idea, as it has always been fresh and wonderful when I have went. The house reds are usually hearty and conducive to a meal that is based on pizza, and often, when I have plans further into the night, I will choose instead a root beer, which is also perfect for the pizza. The place itself is rather charming.  In the late afternoon I am often surprised by how many parents and children, or nannies and children, or nannies, parents and children drop in.  In fact I once saw a woman interviewing to be a nanny there, reflecting the fate of New Yorkers to have others at their feet or to scurry at the feet of the bastards, but such is life in a berg where a decent studio goes for $1800. Anyway, the children are often excited, and it's nice to be around that, and the wait staff, in my experience, are always exceedingly kind and ready to help with excellent little suggestions and dispositions that are always patient and welcoming.  I love going there. The music is from the juke box, and the juke box does have some gems, along with the old stalwarts - I don't doubt that Journey's Greatest Hits is there, but so too are some excellent jazz and blues albums and some great indie rock of the 1980s.  I am pretty sure I remember seeing there a father introducing his child to the work of the Pixies once.  Maybe that was somewhere else.  And while the Pixies are rapidly becoming a staple of the Ramones t-shirt wearing crowd of the early 2000s, they, like the Ramones, can still rock a song - and it's good to know the next generation will remember that we used to go to concerts too, and stomp around and scream and believe that somewhere, in all that noise, was a great key for the soul to use to find something like love and enlightenment, all wrapped up, together at last.

I used to live in the exact building that Posto is in and when it arrived, I think God smiled down on me! Posto is absolutely amazing Pizza, one of the best in the entire city. Its thin crust, which made me nervous at first since I am a loyal pan fan, but its done perfectly for all pizza lovers. Don't just stick to the pizza either, try their ravioli with their signature garlic/cheese bread or their sandwiches at lunch (they have good lunch specials). One last thing, if you go, you have to get their house salad-it includes mixed greens, mushrooms, red onions and olives with the best tasting balsamic dressing. Go now!

i meant to leave this review for gruppo - but i was spelling it wrong and it didn't come up, so i left it here, same restaurant few blocks away - now that i know gruppo has two p's i'll leave it again! "i've got an idea - what if everyone who orders a pizza requests a tuna topping?  they don't have that any more, BUT THEY USED TO!  so they'll have to say "sorry, we don't carry the tuna any more, and everyone will put on this mask of disappointment and proceed what they were going to order anyway, while sending the message that grupo has to get tuna back on the menu - really, truly - tuna with capers on their pizza is amazing.  another think i've noticed is that the second or third slice is much better because their pizza needs to be a bit on the cooler side. They don't go very heavy on the onion topping so ask for extra.  i think this is hands-down my favorite pizza.  if only they still had the tuna topping.  if any reader knows where i can get tuna and capers on my pizza, italian style, please let me know!"

While Posto, Vezzo & Gruppo have the *exact* menu, this location is *dear* because you have outdoor seating (picnic benches) on a quieter part of Second Avenue between the hospitals, Stuy Town & Gramercy. Our faves when we're here: A bottle of Hoegaarden heferweizen or draft of Yuengling: Refreshing! The mixed green salad: leafy dark greens, red onions, cherry tomatoes and a balanced balsamic/olive oil dressing: Delish! The piece de resistance: A large 'Shroomtown: combine their incredibly thin and crisp crust, sweet/tangy tomato sauce spread thin, mozzerella cheese, portobello and shiitake mushrooms and dab a bit of truffle oil and you have an incredible specimen of pizza delight! Sure, call it nuevo-pizza, a new take on the classic NY-style pizza, but whatever you might call it -- their pizzas are satisfying, light and most of all: DELICIOSO!

Super thin crust in a quaint space that's a step up from your lunch haunts and a step down in formality vs. most dinner spots. The pies come in 9" and 16" sizes.  The pricing is pretty proportional so it pays to get two different ones vs. share one.  I went with fresh mozzarella, sweet Italian sausage, red peppers, and tomato sauce.  I liked the sausage and peppers best.  The cheese was fine but paled compared to, say, Luzzo's.   The crust is REAL thin but it has enough body that it isn't a cracker. My cousin liked her pie as well.  Think she'd agree, though, this doesn't measure up to other pizza we've had like Nick's in Forest Hills and UES or Angelo's on 57th b/w 6th and 7th (across from Burger Joint). For $10 a pie, no complaints.  Would go back if in the area for a nice lunch or quick dinner.

Coco Chanel said "You can never be too rich or too thin."  While I'm pretty sure she'd look down on me for applying this to a pizza review, POSTO pizza is both deliciously rich and thin.  The rich part comes from the olive oil and cheese - ample amounts of both, yet not overwhelmingly so.  The thin applies to the crust: think of a cheesy flat bread that's both crispy and crunchy with each bite.  I am consistently amazed at how many toppings the thin crust can sustain without crumbling.  The cheese to sauce ratio favors cheese, so if you don't want marinara sauce you can sub it out for pesto sauce.  Heaven!   The salads are also really refreshing as is the House dressing.  And the cheesy garlic bread makes you feel guilty about ever making the decision to order it.  However, the pizza does not.  You can order an individual pie and not feel like you've ever over stuffed yourself and compliment it with a salad.   So in the end, Coco would be proud.  It doesn't put too much weight on me and doesn't break my bank account.

Almost made me go postal!! Such thin crust pizza and the best part is that they make it how you want it! I had a nice size (9 inch) thin crust pizza (that was the small and then there is a large which would comfortably feed 2-3 people depending on what else you ordered and how hungry you were) with ricotta and zucchini. Are you kidding with the poor reviews? The crust was perfect and not burnt, the cheese nice and soft and plentiful. And the zucchini was just thin enough. Delish. In fact I freaked out when I thought they didnt deliver to my apt. I will be back. We sat outside- great service and nice staff.

This is, all things (price, location, easiness, familiarity) considered, my favorite place. Not the "best," per se, restaurant in New York, but my cozy, happy, warm and fuzzy "favorite" (which may have to do with the fact that this is one of the only places I really feel like a regular at). My ex-girlfriend (and still very dear friend) and I have eaten here for years since soon after they opened, and have celebrated many a birthday, business meeting, or out of town guest in this friendly neighborhood spot (if you don't celebrate business meetings, you got the wrong friendleagues). All of their pizzas are great, their pepperoni are HUGE and spicy, the garlic bread with cheese is massive and delicious, and the salads are great (I go with spinach salad, though recently I've started asking for it with light dressing...). we always love to get a large ham and pineapple, it's so thin you're left wanting more in the BEST possible way. The bread pudding is my fave dessert. Unfortunately, they don't always have lambrusco, a wonderfully silly sparkling, chilled red wine but when they do, get it. Otherwise, cheap pitchers of yeungling it is! Gruppo and Vezzo, the sister 'raunts are good (Gruppo's actually the original, I think) but POSTO reigns supreme in atmosphere and staff (who despite turnover and my recent, now temporary move to queens still greet us warmly and by name). God, I love this place.

Dimly lit Posto has an old world, rustic European tavern-esque feel.... with it's wood booths, exposed brick, low tin ceiling, dark mahogany bar and vintage diner stools.  Nice choice of domestic and imported, bottled beer, and beer on tap...I chose the $5 Yuengling on tap.  It was so cold and bubbly... I just had to have another.  Good selection of red and white wine by the glass/ bottle. We started with the Greek salad.  It was full of delicious fresh cherry tomatoes, spicy red onions, and feta cheese.  Onto the pizza ..oh wow... the pizza!  Thin, thin ...did I mention thin?  Crispy, crunchy,  cracker -like, flaky  crust, with baked on Mozzarella, and marinara sauce.  Brick oven perfection.  So many gourmet toppings to choose from... the grilled eggplant, and black olives were fantastic.  And for dessert...get this....pumpkin pie made from "real" Pumpkins!  Not at all sugary...tasted like fresh ( not canned)  pureed  bodacious Pumpkins...yum.   Get there early for din din...or go for lunch. Modest, little Posto is bustling... and for good reason.  Amazing pizza, cozy atmosphere, competent service, clean bathrooms, and extremely reasonable prices to boot.. Posto is a very special place-romantic casual date destination. Definitely a slice above the rest.  Check out their website for more 411.

Unbelievable pizza. Gorgeous decor. Fast service and friendly waiters. What's not to like? This sweet little pizza joint can get quite busy on Friday and Saturday nights. My party had to wait over an hour for a table, but it was SO worth it. Plus, we were able to leave and go to another nearby bar while we waited - the waitress graciously offered to call us once our table was ready! Now THAT'S service. The pizza was DELICIOUS - the pepperoni was spectacular. I wish they had more indoor seating, especially during the winter! I have a feeling I'm going to be heading back there quite a few times this season for a cozy slice of pizza.

Best pizza I've found. Being Italian and being from Cali, I never quite got the New York pizza thing (maybe I haven't found the best NY pizza joint yet), but I'll take fresh, piping hot, thin crust Italian style over NY slices any day.  Is it really like the pizza in Napoli? Well, no. But it reigns supreme in the U.S. Best of list includes: Four Seasons (Quattro Stagioni - classic Italian pizza) Meat Lovers (I wasn't one until I ate this) and Prosciutto, Basil, Jalapeno (we made this one up - shout out to Rich & Lina) Wine list is also excellent, house salad is good to start and the atmosphere is always tops (Winter - cozy and warm inside, Summer - tables outside are prime). NOTE: They may not have accepted credit cards in the old days, but they definitely do now.

I live RIGHT next to this fine establishment.  The space used to be occupied by a Chinese restaurant called Tasty Corner, which actually was not tasty at all!  Glad it's gone.  Posto is a GRRREAT date restaurant with tables outside, and cozy booths inside.  he ambiance inside the restaurant has an old time feel, even though the place is only a couple years old, with out that TGIF fake antique look. It's not cheap, but the ingredients seem fresh, and the different specialty pizzas are great.  Try making a custom one with Mushrooms and Pineapple.  MMMMMMMM.  ZZZZZZZZZZ. Ultra thin crust pizza, I can definitely eat at least half of a large pie myself.   Try it today!

I am very picky about my pizza.  The crust has to be crispy and paper thin.  The cheese better be fresh mozarella, NOT the stringy polly-o stuff.  Anything less goes in the garbage. This place surpassed expectations.  The ingredients were fresh, delicately chopped.  The pizza is exactly the way I like it, the crust is one of the thinnest and crispiest I have tried in this town. The ambiance was really nice, a casual, local pub feel.  The worn leather booths with slate or wooden tables, embossed tin ceilings, classic look to the bar.   Beer and wine available, and some comfort-food classic desserts like apple pie, cheesecake and chocolate chip cookie.

This place is awesome - outdoor picnic-bench seating on relatively quiet 18th street and exposed brick walls with jukebox indoor seating. The spinach salad was fresh and the dressing matched nicely. My friends ate the meat-lovers pie and did cartwheels out of the joint, while I ate an entire small pie that was covered in veggies leading to a "just right" feeling in my tummy. The pizza is sooo tasty. I'll be back soon, hope to see you there!!

The pizza is AMAZING, all of the servers are really nice, and they have outdoor seating that I can bring my dog along to (they also give him a water bowl every time). This place is delicious and a real treat.

Overall, great and dependableThis is a local for me, so I've eaten here regularly. It's a perfect quaint neighborhood pizzaria, and surprise surprise, the pizza is great. It's a really good thin almost cracker crust. aside from a standard selection of toppings, the pepperoni and proscuitto are high quality and recommended strongly. The salads can be a little weak and recently they raised their prices, but I still think a strong quality value at a great neighborhood location (great for kids) with a fun jazzy juke box. Definitely one of my favorites.

Posto has the greatest pizza. It is consistently delicious and I find myself ordering from here at least once a week. I'm hooked! Their salads are simple yet always fresh and tasty. If you add a little truffle oil to their Formagio Bianco pizza, it is outstanding! Service is always straight-forward (no bells & whistles & doting here) if you eat in the restaurant, but they have delivery too so you can have the Posto experience at home. Yum!

From the same folks who're behind proverbially-cramped Pizza Gruppo, Posto sports a cozier profile than its Alphabet City elder. Fortunately, that's about as deep as the divide runs – Like Gruppo, their thin-crust pizzas are impeccably done, and folks from Gramercy and beyond crowd the pubby space each night to enjoy a Shroomtown pie and, perhaps, a brew or two.

Posto-thin crust pizza revisited
Monday, September 05, 2005
Trevor, AKA "Swimster" (newly dubbed by our friends HungryMan and Nosher of NYC Nosh), took me to Posto, right around the corner from his apartment for pizza. If you think you've had thin crust pizza, think again. Little did I know in this little pizza joint, and that's what really best describes it, I'd find the thinnest, best-tasting pizza I've had in the city. I guess that's not saying much seeing that I've had few thin crust pizzas here at all (usually it's the monster slices from the small no-name walk-in walk-out pizza stops) but Posto's version hit the spot. And that's all anyone's really calling for at 9pm when neither of us could put our finger on what the heck we wanted to eat. Posto is small and there are a few benches outside hugging the restaurant's walls (Posto sits on the corner of 2nd and 18th). You walk in to a few booths right off the restaurant bar and a couple tables in the back close to the kitchen countertop. We scored a booth, fit with the wiry pizza tray holder, hot pepper flake shakers and all. Swimster felt he wanted to have a beer but I coaxed him into having a bottle of white wine. We chose an Italian bottle whose name escapes me right now, which isn't a huge deal because it was too bitter for Swimster and we wouldn't have it again anyway. The pizza we ordered was a little bit of everything, some sausage for Swimster the meat-lover, some sun-dried tomato bits for me, some basil for both our tastebuds, and some clouds of sliced mozzarella which had turned into marshmallowy looking gobs on top. Calling it pizza seems to be a disservice. It was too light and refreshing! I didn't feel sick after having a few slices and unlike most goes at pizza, I actually felt like trying a new pizza the very next day. (I think Swimster scored a couple of pieces of leftovers for the next day's lunch attack.) The crust was paper thin and just the right crunchiness. A pizza with no sogginess and no burnt pieces is a true accomplishment. I decided to try some of their prosciutto and melon appetizer I would skip next time. Not enough prosciutto and too much melon for me. The service was very friendly and we both left glad to have found a local joint that would please both of us, on those many a nights when neither of us wants to call the shots, or the restaurant.

Best Toppings in Town!

I was thrilled when Posto moved to my neighborhood, I was already traveling to the East Village joint Gruppo by the same owners. They did not miss a step - great pizza, fantastic salads and slightly more room then the cramped Village location. I love to sit outside at the picnic tables, even if it is a bit loud with the Second Avenue traffic. When you sit outside you do need to stay on top of the service...they seem to forget about you, but always with a smile. Love the toppings list, but have learned that less is more, you may find yourself so wide-eyed on your first visit that you want to put TOO much on your pizza. Keep it simple. Enjoy!

We were here last night for the first time and it was fantastic! The pizza is super thin and crispy, and they have a huge variety of toppings. The salads are large and fresh (my boyfriend and I shared a salad and it was plenty for both of us), we had the spinach with goat cheese and it was quite good. They also have great prices on wine, you can get a decent bottle for about $20. The waitress was a little inattentive, but they were completely packed and she was running around like crazy so it's not as though she was being lazy. Overall it was very very good, we will definitely go back.

The notion of the bartenders/waiters at Posto being rude or unprofessional is laughable. I have been going to Posto since I moved to NYC and the service has been impeccable, and the staff could not have been friendlier. Once when there was no seating immediately available for my relatives and me they served us free wine while we waited at the bar; I didn't even ask. Their thin-crust pizza is cheap, delicious, and comes with creative toppings, but their appetizers like bruschetta, though I don't see them ordered often, are good and go very well with wine. Several times I have gone to Posto alone with a newspaper or magazine and ended up in lengthy conversations with newfound friends--not typical in Manhattan. This is my favorite neighborhood restaurant in New York.

I have eaten a lot of pizza in this city, I can appreciate the differences in all, and I think that this is the best. Super thin crust with just enough burnt on the bottom. Great selection of toppings but even the plainest one with just cheese and sauce is outstanding. They are super friendly when you call to order delivery, and they deliver fast. They are also super friendly when you dine in, and it has a cute little Italian restaurant atmosphere. It's cool without really even trying to be cool. But it's all about the pizza anyway, which is outstanding.

I've been here on dates, with groups of friends, and solo for a quick slice/glass of wine. everyone I bring here comments on what a great neighborhood spot it is and wants to come back again. after Posto it's hard to go back to regular, heavy, cheesy slices. and since it's thin crust, you don't feel as guilty when you finish almost the whole pie.

You get to choose from a never-ending list of toppings including caramelized onions, bella di cerignola olives, fresh spinach and shiitake mushrooms. I got a slice with jalapenos and sweet red onions which was just perfect after a few margaritas at Underbar. Not to be confused with "del posto," I decided to give this cute looking pizza place down the street from me a try. it turns out to be a friendly neighborhood-feeling place with thin crust pizza that is quite good (but not exceptional). we also split the antipasto plate, which was tasty, if not original. prices are reasonable but not cheap ($14 for a large, $9 for a small pizza). I recommend as a friendly joint here in this area (what area is this? gramercy? not quite…Stuyvesant town/cooper village?) that I would go to again for a casual meal.

I have my dear friend to thank for introducing me to this place...while it's a tight fit (and what my mother would call an "intimate" dining experience), the pizza is top notch. What do they do? Bake the bare crust first - it's pita thin without being matzo-crisp - and then bake it again with the toppings?! It's alchemy. The 'Shroomtown will make a believer out of anyone who poo-poo's mushrooms. And their soda fountain gets it right - it's tough to find just right Diet Coke. Hit this.

She's THERE TOO. It's the same restaurant practically (there's three I think) but Posto has a better feel inside. This place is better than Grimaldis. yummmm! i got delivery from here and it was great. The pizza is so thin that you don't feel disgustingly full after 2 (or 3!) slices. We got one large pizza with onions, bell peppers, and 'asparagus' which I thought was a cool different topping. We also got a small meat pizza which is small enough that one person could eat it and feel full but not over-full. Everything about this pizza is done properly. There isn't an over-abundance of cheese or sauce or toppings… its good portions which is hard to find in this calorie-happy super-sized world. The garlic bread we got was ok - but I probably wouldn't order that again. The delivery time was 20 minutes and on a busy Saturday night I thought that was very decent timing. I will definitely get pizza from here again - next time I might go and eat inside b/c I've passed by this place and it looks cute. edit: I went inside to pick-up a pie recently and realized that i HAD been here before. When I was apartment hunting for my very 1st apt in nyc - my brother and i got hungry and happened to fall upon this place...who would've known that over a year later its my neighborhood favorite pizza shop! aw.. :)

This is the closest thing my husband and I have to a "regular" spot. We come here often - probably once a week - and we are never disappointed. Our personal favorites are the house salad and schroomtown. The personal pizzas aren't as good as the bigger ones- I think it's because of the ratio of pie to crust - so just opt for a large and bring extra home. You can get a good, cheap Montepulciano and they have some good draught beers. Highly recommended!

I like this place for lunch. You walk in and usually there's room so you can sit where you like, by the window is a good spot for people watching. They have a jukebox, good selection of tunes and a few of my favorite beers on tap. You can have a personal pizza with 3 toppings, a beer, a chocolate chip cookie and an espresso for $20. The service is great when I go, but the place is mostly vacant at that time, in any case its a pretty small place, but comfortable. This pizza is really thin but that’s so you can actually taste the toppings! You can pay for half a pound of bread or get your tastebuds worth of fresh mozzarella and andouille sausage with fresh artichokes.

Great pizza.
Best pizza in the neighborhood, and the best thin crust in ny. My favorite combo is italian prosciutto with fresh mozzarella.

The best pizza in new york.
I just have to say that this place made me so happy! The pizza is fantastic, the crust is great, the toppings are endless and creative - whole roasted garlic, caramelized onions, need I say more! The service is great once someone notices you! Comfy setting, dim lights, if you're looking for anything more than salad and pizza though, don't bother.

A homerun.
Since I stepped foot in Posto, I was smothered with the feeling of homeyness, comfort, great relaxing music and nice wine. If you like mushrooms, the shroomtown is to die for and basically any pizza in there is amazing, caramelized onions as a pizza topping is as good as it sounds too. If you like pizza with umph, something that will satisfy you without making you feel bloated and stuffed this is the place to go. The service is great and the salads are also worth having. Tiramisu is far beyond mediocre, try it, you'll come back for it.

Best Pizza without the hype.
I've been ordering Posto delivery ever since they opened, and have found myself calling them up after the meal to thank them for consistently producing the most flavorful, evenly cooked pizza I have ever had...no exageration. Their toppings are spectacular and allow the creative pizza lovers to come up with some interesting combos. My favorites: chicken, feta and black olive, italian sausage with caramelized onions, spinach and feta. Always fresh, flavorful, never soggy in the middle and never burnt. Thank you Posto.

Authentic Italian Thin-crust Pizza.
This tiny, unassuming restaurant on 18th and 2nd serves up some unbelievable tasty thin-crust pizza. This is the true Italian thin-crust pizza derived from the Romans - not the heavy, doughy crap that is served at so many NYC pizzerias. Posto offers a wide variety of specialty pizzas available in 9" and 16" sizes. Try the "Shroomtown" - my personal favorite. It features portobello, shitake and button mushrooms and a drizzle of aromatic truffle oil which makes for a heavenly smell and taste. Fantastic! They serve a variety of bottled sodas, draft and bottled beer, and wine.

I live on the same block and have eaten here dozens of times; nearly every person I bring here freaks out at how good the place is. Pizza is among the best anywhere, super cozy (nice outdoor tables in good weather). The people giving bad reviews are basing their reviews on too little experience; I've been here many many times and have brought lots of people and it's unanimous...it rocks! And no, I am not some shill; I only want to see them stay in business.

The pizza is unbelievable(!), the service is great, and the restaurant is so cozy +romantic. I have ordered delivery many times and it is reasonably quick and fresh everytime. Trust me- try it.
